In recent years, due to the particularly favorable climate, it has become a tourist destination known all over the world.. From spring to autumn, the ports of Melendugno, Santa Cesarea Terme and Otranto on the Adriatic coast and those of Porto Cesareo, Portoselvaggio and Gallipoli on the Ionian coast are filled with tourists ready to enjoy so much beauty. But Salento is not just sea. One of the gems is certainly Lecce, the southern capital of Baroque, a city that captivates anyone who visits it, with its churches and palaces. There is Brindisi, where two castles on the sea can be visited. And then there are the towns in the hinterland, rich in ancient charm and secular traditions, such as the famous popular dance of pizzica, brought onto a world stage like that of the Notte della Taranta in Melpignano. The entire Salento region is dotted with charming masserias, ancient farmhouses, many of which have now become exclusive reception facilities.
